Days of Reflection Offered for Friends

The Jesuits USA Central and Southern Province is pleased to offer two Days of Reflection this year as a way of showing our gratitude to benefactors and friends. Both events are free of charge. Presentations are by Jesuits of this province.

Each Day of Reflection will follow a similar schedule, with presentations followed by time for reflection and prayer. They will begin at about 8:30 a.m. and end around 2:00 p.m. Mass will be celebrated, and lunch will be provided.

A Day of Reflection will also be held in Denver on a date to be determined. It will be led Fr. Ronald R. O’Dwyer, SJ, director of the Billiken Teacher Corps at Saint Louis University. This page will be updated when the date and location are confirmed. 

Each event is limited to 90 participants and registrations are taken on a first come, first served basis. They do fill up, so please register as early as possible to avoid disappointment.

June 20, 2017 — Fr. Martin focuses on the relationship between LGBT Catholics and the church in “Building a Bridge.”

Fr. Christopher Fronk, SJ, has been selected for promotion to the rank of captain in the United States Navy.

The Jesuit Social Research Institute has received a generous grant from the W.K. Kellogg Foundation for important research on economic imbalances, racial inequity and food justice in Louisiana and Mississippi.

Juan Rodriguez is the father of three daughters, two of whom are students at Cristo Rey Jesuit Houston High School. Since 2007, he has complied with all Immigrations and Customs Enforcement procedures, but now he's in danger of deportation.

The Osage collection in the Jesuit Archives contains correspondence and administrative records of the Jesuit Mission to the Osage Nation, established in 1847. But the real treasure is the documents in the Osage language, now nearly extinct.

May 30, 2017 — More than 65 presidents of Catholic colleges and universities — including Loyola University New Orleans, Rockhurst University and Spring Hill College — urged Department of Homeland Security Secretary John Kelly to protect undocumented students.

Father Carl Dehne, SJ, died May 13, 2017, in St. Louis. He was 80 years old, a Jesuit for 58 years and a priest for 46 years.
