Geoffrey Miller
New Provincial Assistant for Secondary and Pre-Secondary Education Named

Father Ronald A. Mercier, SJ, provincial of the Jesuits USA Central and Southern (UCS) Province, has announced the hiring of Dr. Geoffrey Miller as the next provincial assistant for secondary and pre-secondary education for the UCS Province.

“Geoff has a deep knowledge and love of our Catholic and Jesuit tradition, having made the Exercises and worked in various Jesuit apostolates,” Fr. Mercier said. “He has expressed real eagerness to serve the UCS Province and its schools. I know that he will be a great gift to the province and our schools.”

He will replace Sean Agniel, who recently announced his plans to transition to St. Louis University High School

Dr. Miller has a master’s degree in historical theology from Saint Louis University (SLU) and a Ph.D. in scripture from Catholic University.

He currently teaches religion at Regis High School in New York City. He taught theology at Saint Louis University from 2008 to 2016. While there, he also served as director of the undergraduate program in the Department of Theological Studies.

“In his leadership at SLU, Geoff not only showed himself an able administrator, but also a gifted and creative teacher and mentor,” Fr. Mercier said. “He constantly displayed a desire and ability to work collaboratively.”

From 2006 to 2008, he taught theology at The Catholic University of America, Marymount University and Christian Brothers University.

Early in his career, after completing his bachelor’s degree in Philosophy and Religious Studies at Indiana University, he served at Rockhurst High School in Kansas City, Mo., as a member of the UCS Province’s Alum Service Corps.
