The Jesuits of the USA Central and Southern Province invite young men to learn more about life as a companion of Jesus Christ in the Society of Jesus.
The province will host two retreats this winter for men who are considering a vocation to vowed religious life, specifically as a Jesuit priest or brother.
The discernment retreats will be held December 17-21, 2018 and January 2-6, 2019, both at St. Charles College in Grand Coteau, La., home to the Jesuit novitiate and a retirement community for senior Jesuits.
The retreats are open to any Catholic man exploring a vocation to ministry in the church. Attendees can learn more about the Jesuit way of life and spend time with Jesuit novices and other men who are discerning their future.
The retreats offer an opportunity to spend time in prayer, reflecting on the call to be a priest or brother. Prior to the silent retreat, there are brief presentations on Jesuit life and formation. Discerners will also have the opportunity to meet and socialize with Jesuit novices and men in formation.
The discerners will be assigned a spiritual director for the retreat itself. This is a time to experience the type of prayer and spiritual direction that is integral to Jesuit formation.
There is no charge to participate in the retreats, other than travel to Grand Coteau. Some financial assistance is available to those on a limited budget.
