60 Years in the Priesthood

When I left my home in Carencro, La., I was 17 years old. I had no idea whatsoever about the journey I was beginning. I was one of nine children, and God gave me very good and sacrificing parents and eight very wonderful siblings who helped and cared for me. So this departure was not easy.

My vocation found its roots in the sacraments and the Family Rosary. On First Fridays when I went to Confession, Mass and Holy Communion, I began to experience the presence of Jesus – a deep interior peace and joy. So, this was the beginning of my call to the priesthood. In 1946, I entered the Jesuit novitiate in Grand Coteau, La.

In 1980, I was sent to the Misiones of Paraguay, where I have served ever since. Currently at the age of 90, I continue to collaborate in parish activities as Vicar of the Parishes of San Ignacio and St. Maria de Fe, serving the sick and others whom I meet.

I am most grateful for and humbled by the many graces and blessings that God has poured out on me during these many years!
