Father E. Edward Kinerk, SJ, 73, has been at Sacred Heart Jesuit Retreat House in Sedalia, Colo., since 2007, serving as administrator, spiritual director and director.
Born in Kansas City, Missouri, he entered the Society of Jesus in 1966 and was ordained a priest in 1972 by Bishop Joseph McNicholas at St. Francis Xavier College Church in St. Louis.
A former provincial of the former Missouri Province (1991-97), he also served that province as novice master at the novitiate in Denver, 1982-85 and formation director, 1985-91.
From 1998 to 2006, he was president of Rockhurst University in Kansas City, Missouri.
Fr. Kinerk was at Sacred Heart Retreat House in Sedalia previously, 1975-79.
He earned a bachelor’s in math and physics from Rockhurst University, 1964; a Master’s in moral theology from Saint Louis University, 1970; and a doctor of sacred theology in spirituality, Gregorian University, Rome, 1975.

The Ignatian Spirituality Center of Kansas City gives, fosters, and witnesses to the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius of Loyola by giving the Spiritual Exercises in various forms, offering ongoing formation in Ignatian spirituality and discernment, and training prayer guides to give the Spiritual Exercises.
